Arthur Suydam and his crew have dropped us a line to let us know he will be at the Big Apple Convention, the National Comic Book, Art and Sci-Fi Expo and has also created a special poster for the occassion:

“Arthur Suydam has just been tapped to commemorate Big Apple Conventions 10th Anniversary in a grand way with a limited edition full color poster featuring a striking piece of classic Suydam barbarian artwork.

Commissioned by Big Apple’s own Mike Carbonaro, this 11x 17 poster will be signed by Suydam. The first 200 people through the door each day will receive one of these great pieces of collectible art free of charge!

Suydam is the perfect choice to commemorate a New York mainstay like Big Apple, being the quintessential East Village artist himself. Nothing new for his family though, that sports a long artistic NYC legacy from Hudson River painters James Augustus Suydam and Henry Suydam to illustrator E.H. Suydam who chronicled the history of the worlds most important cities, including Manhattan. Art and New York run in his veins.

“I am honored that The National wanted to use my art to help commemorate their 10th Anniversary,” said Suydam. “To me, there is no place in the world like New York. What we have here is unique and to be celebrated.”

Fresh off the plane from the San Sebastian Film Festival n Spain where he received a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, Suydam will be signing at the Heroic Fine Art booth on Friday in support of his recent giclee releases and at Vanguard Productions Friday through Sunday at varying times.

The Big Apple Convention will be held November 18, 19 and 20 and is located at the Penn Plaza Pavilion, at 401 7th Ave and 33rd St, right across the street from Penn Station in New York City. Tickets are $15 per day or $40 for all three days (with early admission on Friday).”

Arthur’s work can also be seen in the forthcoming Arthur Suydam: the Art of the Barbarian Hardcover due in December.
