No, it may sound like one of those copyright-dodgy 60s comix pornographic spoofs of a beloved old character, but actually its a report that cartoon pin-up gal Betty Boop has been signed up to the American chain Hooters, which my US chums tell me is some sort of gentlemen’s leisure club with attentive maid service. Well, boop-oop-de-doo.
I wonder if they will also sign up Bugs Bunny when he’s dressed up as a girl? And where will it all end? Conan the Barbarian as spokesperson for chains of expensive gyms? Wonder Woman selling bracelets? Powergirl promoting brassieres for the well-endowed superlady? Perhaps Samurai Executioner could be the front man for quality kitchen knives? Doctor Solar presenting the case of the nuclear power industry? I’m guessing Spider-man won’t be advertising Raid though.
