Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez have been in the rather flash environs of the Cannes Film Festival, along with many of the cast members of Sin City. Miller has reportedly been drawn into the old chestnut about violent imagery – in comics and films especially – leading to real-life violence. He pointed out that violence has long-existed before the advent of either of these visual media and that many classic of literature from the Iliad to Shakespeare employ violence and yet these are not cited as causes of violence in society. I suspect the journalist picked the wrong writer/artist to argue this dubious point with!
