Dalek auction

General

The BBC reports that a Dalek used in several episodes of the original Doctor Who and which graced the cover of the Radio Times for the show’s 20th anniversary back in 1983 has sold at auction for the healthy sum of £36, 000, with proceeds going to Great Ormond Street hospital (thanks to Ariel for the tip).

In related Who news, the BBC has stuck to a ‘no-comment’ stance on tabloid reports that Billie Piper is to leave the show after the second season to avoid being typecast. The new series is due early next spring, but we have the Christmas Day special to look forward to and there is a promise of some Who-related material on the BBC’s annual Chidren in Need telathon this evening.
