Top fantasy author Jeff VanderMeer is running a Halloween-themed Haiku competition on his blog, with the winner bagging oodles of candy, in time honoured trick or treat fashion. Apparently some American delicacy called ‘corn candy’ is on offer. Jeff has also been telling us that his major new work, Shriek, should be coming in the UK early in 2006, from Tor Macmillan who published this year’s excellent City of Saints and Madmen collection; I’m eagerly awaiting a proof copy.
