IDW are to publish the graphic novel collection of their mini-series adaptation of George A Romero’s recent entry in his zombie series, Land of the Dead, in March. Romero recently talked on Moviehole.net about the possibility of another entry in his undead series (his fifth if it happens), but added little of substance to what he had said some months ago at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on the subject (there’s a review earlier on the blog here): there are a few story ideas (taking the story to Australia or perhaps carrying on in a direct sequel to Land with the same characters).
Since there is generally a fair bit of time between each of George’s zombie flicks I suspect we may have to wait for a while for any fifth entry. In the meantime he is working on two Stephen King adaptations (including The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon) and trying to get interest going in a project called Diamond Dead, a spoof horror about a dead rock band. He also added that he is interested in working again with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright of Shaun of the Dead fame (he noted Simon has a part in Mission Impossible 3 right now) but there isn’t anything solid at the moment; fortunately we have graphic novels of Land of the Dead and Shaun of the Dead (also IDW) to entertain us while we wait.
