Marvel’s Carnivale

Comics and cartoons

No, the House of Ideas isn’t going to Rio. But Marvel has just announced that Daniel Knauf, the creator of the disturbingly fascinating Carnivale series has become the latest TV writer to be signed up; Knauf will be writing six issues of Iron Man in 2006 for Marvel. He was quoted on Marvel’s site:

“What I love about Iron Man is that he’s the one super hero who doesn’t eclipse his alter-ego,” says Knauf. “Tony Stark is a very complex, messed-up dude. This is a guy who desperately wants to help the human race, but his creative energy is almost exclusively dedicated to weapons design. What’s wrong with that picture?”

This comes only a short time after the Damon Lindelof, co-creator of Lost, was announced as a writer on Ultimate Hulk Vs Wolverine. Will this trend take off in the UK? Will we see Anne Robinson writing a new strip of Durham Red for 2000AD? Richard and Judy doing the Bash Street Kids for the Beano?
