Comic Book Resources has reported that Alan Moore, one of our most venerated of comics writers, has finally severed his connection with DC and will be taking later League of Extraordinary Gentlemen elsewhere. Moore has been working at arms length from DC for some time now, being somewhat unhappy, but he has now felt moved to cut his remaining connections to the huge comics company.
There are a number of reasons – the CBR article goes into extensive detail – but it seems claims that he had endorsed the movie version of V for Vendetta currently underway with the Wachowski Brothers and the lack of a retraction of this claim proved the final straw. However, it’s not all doom and gloom as Alan also proposed to his long-time girlfriend (and fellow scribe) Melinda Gebbie and she accepted, so congratulations to both of them.
