Comics and cartoons

Oh, yes indeedy, you read it right – there is a brand new Asterix the Gaul album coming our way. What’s it called? I don’t know. What’s the story? I really couldn’t say. In fact, other than the price and the fact it is coming in October I can’t tell you much at all, since Orion, the publishers, have wrapped it in a veil of secrecy that makes Bloomsbury’s Harry Potter team look like blabbermouths.

They are pretty darned confident though – around 8 million copies are being published for a co-ordinated, world-wide release in October. Given that Asterix books have sold even more than the aforementioned Master Potter (no mean feat) and been translated into something like 107 languages I can see that confidence being justified. Kids love Asterix and Obelix. Adults love them. Japanese folk love them, Scottish, Norwegian, French… Oh, face it, most folk do! So I think I’m far from alone in being desperate to read this. We’ve got it up on our pre-orders section of the graphic novel site, so you can order up your mystery copy right now.
