The revamped Doctor Who series has made it onto no less than three categories in the shortlists for this year’s National Television Awards (the ceremony is held on October 25th). Who has been nominated in the most popular drama series (nicely reflecting the series’ adult credentials and not just its kid-appeal) while the two leads, Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston, have been nominated in the best actress and best actor categories respectively. Meanwhile, back at the Planet we’re all gazing lovingly at the first wave of new Who merchandise to arrive, including sonic screwdriver, talking Dalek bottle openers and a very cool remote control Dalek – the new series version.
