Yes, the crew of Edinburgh’s Forbidden Planet took to the air this morning; FM changed from Frequency Modulation to Force Majeure as my colleagues Lee and Kally talked Star Wars for BBC Radio Scotland’s Gary Robertson show. Lee especially is a huge Star Wars fan and is often to be seen coveting shiny new Lucasfilm merchandise in-between serving our customers (and we do have some fab stuff right now, it’s hard to resist!); she’s even planning to dress up as a Jawa for the first screening of the Revenge of the Sith, because, as she remarks cheekily in the interview “she’s a little short for a stormtrooper.” I think that line went over the heads of the interviewers, but I’m sure all we geeks got it right away!
The rest of the piece features an interview with Mr Vader himself, the lovely Dave Prowse and also phone-ins from fans queuing in the US – it’s a great piece to listen to for any Star Wars fans. As with most BBC radio shows it will be archived for seven days, so if you want to listen to it you can go to the BBC’s massive site and visit the BBC Scotland part of the radio homepage. Clicking on the Listen Now button will launch a Real Player, which usually gives you options for other BBC shows on that station that are archived – you’ll want Gary Robertson and his Friday show – his show also has a section here too. Remember, the archives are only for seven days!
