Pocket/MTV books is to publish a new range of graphic novels and novellas which will feature characters drawn from musician 50 Cent (currently to be seen in his movie Get Rich or Die Tryin’ ) and his G-Unit popular beat combo. The publisher say the series “will tell the truth about The Life; the sex, guns and cash; the brutal highs and short lives of the players on the streets.”
The first novella is due to kick off the range in 2007. Reminds me a little of Canongate’s Payback Press imprint which published crime novels by folk like Iceberg Slim. But if Kiss and Alice Cooper can have their own comics, why not rappers? Who next though? Perhaps Tori Amos as a manga series?
