General

Marvel’s comic-turned-movie-franchise Blade is to be adapted for televisions as an action-adventure series. Spike TV is to produce a 2-hour TV movie pilot for some time in early 2006. Their take on the character and the shows was summed up:

“Blade is the unforgettable legend of an immortal warrior who battles a thriving underworld of vampires seeking to decimate the human race. Half man and half vampire, Blade uses his fierce powers and skills to fearlessly battle the demonic creatures of the night and carry on a blood-drenched crusade to prevent the ascendance of vampires over mankind.”

Meanwhile almost the reverse is happening as a TV show moves into comic books. The highly-rated new Battlestar Galactica series (which I have to say I really enjoyed) will begin a comic run this autumn from Dynamite Entertainment (the people who brought us the successful Army of Darkness adaptations, the second of which is out in graphic novel form this summer), although details and the creative talent have yet to be confirmed.
