General

The movie magazine Empire has just held their annual awards as voted for by their readers. The totally excellent Shaun of the Dead – described as a Rom-Com-Zom flick – took the award for Best British movie.

In related news IDW recently announced the publication of a four-issue mini-series of Shaun of the Dead. Chris Ryall, IDW’s editor-in-chief, will script the mini-series with input from the movie writers Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, with artwork from Zach Howard and covers by Jason Brashill. Leading on from the popularity of the 2000AD Shaun strip, this should be a fun comic to watch out for. The first 32-page colour issue should debut in June, so watch this space.

Meanwhile those same Empire readers – obviously a discerning lot – decided to give the gong for Best Director to Sam Raimi for Spider-Man 2. Naturally we all approve of this. We like Sam.
