Those clever folk at Big Finish productions (home of the Doctor Who audio adventures among many others) have produced a three CD, full cast version of Bryan Talbot’s classic The Adventures of Luther Arkwright. Yes, Luther Arkwright in the new-fangled talking medium!

Parallel Britainsare open to Luther, including one where the Restoration never took place and the nation has been under the rule of Cromwell’s Puritan successors for centuries while others struggle to return the king to the throne. The original stories were (and still are) utterly brilliant and have influenced other writers and artists for years – even the great Alan Moor holds Luther Arkwright to be “a work ambitious in both scope and complexity that still stands unique upon the comics’ landscape”. And even better, Paul Darrow plays Nathaniel Cromwell!
