Garth Ennis and Glen Fabry bring us an unusual DC-Wildstorm release this month in the shape of The Authority: Kev. A former SAS man, now a secret assassin for the British government, with a streak of bad luck (well, what would you call being ambushed in your own home by an IRA hit-squad while sitting on the loo?), he is a little surprised to find that there are real superheroes and even more surprised that he is asked to go and kill them all. Add in weird goings-on, drunken squaddies, homophobia over Apollo and Midnighter’s relationship, alien battlefleets, sexually delinquent politicians and Ennis’ normal brand of über violence and you have some real fun (with the standard caveat of MATURE READERS ONLY, as we say in the trade).
