The Flog Blog

General

One of my favourite indie publishers, the excellent Fantagraphics, have started their own Fantagraphics blog, which they have promptly dubbed the ‘Flog’. The owners Gary Groth and Kim Thompson will be making regular entries on all things to do with comics, no doubt with some special focus and insights into Fanta’s range. Their marketing dude Eric Reynolds and sales guy Greg Zura will also be contributing to the Flog.

Also on the Fantagraphics front, their October titles have just gone up on our graphic novels site for your perusal. For those of you like me who love nothing better than finding some unusual and interesting comics material there is a second volume of Mome coming. Appearing roughly quarterly Mome is designed by Gary Groth and Eric Reynolds to showcase an anthology of some of the best cartoonist around, which readers may otherwise miss, which seems like a terrific idea to me.

Mome 2 is published in October and will feature work from Andrice Arp, Gabrielle Bell, Marc Bell, Jonathan Bennett, Jeffrey Brown, Sophie Crumb, David Heatley, Paul Hornschemeier, Anders Nilsen, John Pham and Kurt Wolfgang. Mome 1 is due for release later this month. It’s good to see publishers genuinely trying to bring something new and different to the readers in this way and it’s likely to appeal to folk interested in Senses, which we talked about yesterday or New Recruits due from Dark Horse this autumn.
