“I swear allegiance to animation, with colour and laughs for all… One audience under Matt Groening…” or perhaps so would go a revised Pledge of Allegiance for little American kids to recite in school of a morning since a new poll in the USA reveals that more Americans have knowledge of the Simpsons than the US Constitution. One in four could name more than one of the freedoms granted by the First Amendment but more than half could name at least two or more members of the Simpson family! Given that the Simpsons have featured both constituional and political humour over the years this is doubly ironic. Perhaps for a modern, multi-media world we need a cartoon amendment?
