Boing Boing has a link to this site which carries cover images of Astounding Stories and Analog Science Fiction Magazine from the delightfully pulpy days of the 30s to 2005. I love this one from February 1941 with ‘noble’ barbarians finding the ruins of our civilisation as nature reclaims New York (nature would obviously have her work cut out for her in that case). It’s a classic SF image; the lost civilisation, the barbarians and makes me think on both Conan (and a ton of other barbarian tales) and Planet of the Apes at the same time. I also like the way the woman is holding up her arm almost in imitation of Lady Liberty.
