Tom at Comics Reporter carries the sad news that artist Dave Cockrum passed away at the far too early age of 63 after some years of serious illness. Dave was a very active artist from the fanzines through to some of the best-known comics in the business, famously working with Len Wein in the 70s, popularising a little comic you may have heard of called the X-Men (yes, as Tom points out, they were not always the popular demi-gods of comics they are today). Dave and his family had a lot of aid from fellow comics creators, including his old publisher Marvel, to help them through his trying period of illness.
