Empire reports that Hellboy and Devil’s Backbone director, Guillermo Del Toro’s forthcoming dark fantasy Pan’s Labyrinth will be Mexico’s entry for the foreign-language category for the next Oscar. It’s a huge boost for the movie which hasn’t opened in the US yet, but it follows huge ovations at Cannes and other film festivals and a personal thumbs up from Neil Gaiman recently, who added that Guillermo had even written the subtitles himself because he was displeased with the translation quality on his previous Spanish language films. Can’t wait to see it.
