The BBC’s revamped Doctor Who has scored another brace of awards at the National Television Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in London, just as it did at the same awards last year. The show walked away with three major gongs: Most Popular Drama, Most Popular Actress (Billie Piper, sniff, we’re going to miss her so much… Must read autobiography to cheer myself up…) and Most Popular Actor for David Tennant. Cult show Little Britain won the Comedy catagory for the third time time (another Who link since Tom Baker does the voice-overs for Little Britain). And Top Gear took the award for Factual programming in the awards, voted for by the public. Yes, I know Top Gear is nothing to do with SF or comics (excepting maybe Initial D?) but you have to give props to a show which has a Harrier jump jet racing round a track against a sports car. What a result for Doctor Who though; Christmas Special episode coming up in a couple of months… I wonder if Torchwood will be figuring in the TV awards next year? And speaking of Torchwood, is anyone else excited about seeing a Cyberman episode in a more adult-themed show in next Sunday’s episode?
