Jessica over at the SF Crowsnest points out that SciFi have put up an entire episode from the just-finished second season of the excellent Battlestar Galactica for free. The episode is Scar, where the Viper pilots are being picked off one by one by a damaged (hence the name Scar) but deadly Cylon Raider as they try to protect a mining mission in an asteroid field. Its a good episode, high on tension and reminiscent of some of the old WWII movies with the Allied pilots struggling against the odds.
It is also interesting because we find out for the first time that the Raiders, which actually are live cybernetic ships rather than ships with a seperate Cylon inside, also upload their memories when they are killed, just as the human-looking Cylons do. This means that each time he is downloaded into a new ship-body he is more experienced at how the Colonial pilots fight and becomes deadlier as a result. It also seems that he is damned angry at being killed so often – especially since the Battlestar crew destroyed the nearest ressurection ship the Cylons shadowing the fleet use to return to life, so if he dies this time he dies for good. Add in Starbuck who seems to be moving from being reckless to actually having a death wish and you have a damned tense episode.
