Film, TV and radio, News

New Line has informed Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson that his services are not required for a film adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s Hobbit, shocking fans. Jackson has been in a financial dispute with New Line following an audit and it looks as if New Line are not prepared to settle this and then move on to creating a prequel to the massive success of the Lord of the Rings films Jackson masterminded. It does seem like an ill-informed move on behalf of New Line to me – fans today are very vocal and organised via the web and a move like this is not likely to please the very core audience any Hobbit film would be aimed at; you’d think a media company would be a little more savvy to the large negative impact this would have.
