Arnie’s striking nemesis from Terminator 3, Kristanna Loken, has been cast in the lead role for the TV series of Painkiller Jane, taking over the role from Emmanuelle Vaugier who starred in the pilot. SciFi has commissioned 22 one-hour episodes which will begin shooting in the heartland of American TV – Vancouver in Canada – in November, with some episodes slated for airing in the US in the spring. Based around Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti’s comics, the central character is an operative for a shadowy government agency (our favourite type of government agency, at least in fiction) who is assigned to hunt ‘neuros’, genetically enhanced people, but finds she too is a little different from the norm, able to absorb massive amounts of injury easily (but not the pain), causing her to wonder if she has more in common with those she is hunting.
