Dan Goldman tells me that the latest (8th) chapter of Shooting War (entitled Unsheathed) is now live on the Smithmag site. Even by Shooting War standards this chapter contains some very strong material; it also manages to combine a dark humour with disturbing horror as the heads-up display with squad member’s names on it momentarily turns a desperate fight into a 3-D shooter video game, or the skull-like masks of some of the troops makes you both laugh and feel disturbed. And the comment about the atomic symbol in the new Iranian passport is priceless.
