Libel against cartoons dismissed

Comics Reporter pointed me to this article in the Guardian today: a Danish court has dismissed a libel action brought by various Muslim groups in the country again Jyllands-Posten, the newspaper which published the cartoons of the prophet Muhammad which stirred up such incredible outrage (court cases being the more civilised end of the events – the other end had protestors calling for beheadings). This is the third time the Muslim groups in Denmark have had their efforts dismissed by the courts but they still intend to appeal once more; one of the members, Ahmed Abu Laban, said he thought “Freedom of speech has been the issue from the beginning. It is seen differently in Europe than we see it.” Hmmm, I think that kind of sums up the problem; some people see these issues very differently…
