Movies-comics-movies

In a lovely circular path of media Image’s new Occult Crimes Taskforce (OCT) comics series has been optioned by Dimension Films according to Variety. Not unusual to see a comics series or a novel optioned for film or TV of course (many of which may never actually get made) but since OCT is partly the creation of (utterly delectable) movie star Rosario Dawson I like the way this has gone: movie actor co-writes comic, with lead character modelled on her, then movie company picks up rights to develop it into a movie. If they do actually make it and cast Rosario for the lead role it would just be a perfect bit of postmodern media. The trade paperback collection of OCT is due from Image in December.

In other film news the site Comics2Film has an interesting interview with the legendary Frank Miller on the making of  the eagerly anticipated movie adaptation of his swords and sandals epic 300 (with the battle action and the cutting edge virtual filming techniques is this going to be Sin City meets Gladiator?)
