Joe mate, any chance you could press a copy to vinyl for me? I’m really keen to listen to your show, having just upgraded my old gramophone and gotten one of those fancy, new “record players”. Not sure I’ll take the next step and get a tape playing machine though. Sounds like a format that might be a bit short-lived if you ask me…

I know people have said it but this isn’t a podcast. Well done for making an mp3 but you need to add subscription capability. No way will I remember to come back each week at the right time to pick up the latest file …

A podcast is a downloadable audio file pure and simple. The standard format being MP3, only iPods make life difficult for many new users but they can be put on and played but extra software may be needed.Remember of course that they can just be played on a computer too.

We have found that many new users get confussed when they are told they must use an agrigator of some discription, this again is not the case, a download from the site is perfect for newbies. They will eventualy discover the likes of iTunes and Juice but these are often over engineered where as something simpler such as Winpodder is ideal.Agrigators are delivery methods, not podcasts.

However, saying all that Joost is quite right that incorporating an RSS feed will maxamise your potentual listenership, but please keep in mind that we want to make getting a podcast an easy thing for the general public, once hooked they will learn.

Let me second the request for an actual podcast– i.e., embedding this into an RSS feed for automatic download. It’s pretty simple to set up, actually, I’ve discovered.

Oh, and thanks for the podcast and congrats on the new project. Very nice.

I agree with Joost. The ability to download the file is nice (Liked the episode). However will I remember to come back frequently to check for new episodes? Probably not. But will I listed to episodes that are downloaded to iTunes since I subscribed? Yep. Here is looking forward to the ability to subscribe to your feed.

Joe, you’re still missing a key element of podcasts: the ability to subscribe to them in a podcatcher like iTunes/Juice via a syndication feed. Simply offering a download link to the current episode won’t help those who want to have them downloaded automatically.

I see you’re using WordPress for the blog. You might want to look into the PodPress plugin:

If you can’t download the audio files or subscribe to
an audio file feed then you can’t really call this a
podcast. Duh.

Podcast? This is not a “podcast” when you need windows media player to play it. I was looking to acutally put it on my iPod, but am unable to. Any plans to really have a “podcast”?
