Comics Continuum quotes Variety as reporting that Bryan Singer has signed up with Warner Brothers to direct a second Superman film following Superman Returns, which, despite a mostly good repsonse from fans and critics worldwide, didn’t do as well at the box office as expected (potentially damaging given the enormous budget). Singer is said to be targetting the summer of 2009 for a second film of the Big Blue Boyscout and hopes to have screenwriters Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty on board along with Brandon Routh in the cape once more. Singer commented that now the first movie has re-introduced the Man of Steel “The next one enables me to get all Wrath of Khan on it.” Sounds good, except now I have a mental image of Bill Shatner shouting that immortal line; I may need to go yell it loudly in the basement to get it out of my system.
