Hot on the heels of the BSFA nominations last week comes the other main UK SF literary prize shortlist, the Arthur C Clarke Awards (or should we say, Sir Arthur?). As is often the case there is a fair bit of crossover with the nominees on the BSFAs, although Cheryl over on Emerald City is surprised to note that Justina Robson’s Living Next Door to the God of Love isn’t on there and, again, I am surprised to see Hal Duncan’s debut Vellum missing from such a major celebration of SF&F talent.
I am not surprised to see Charlie Stross striding confidently into yet more awards arenas however; really, if he keeps getting nominated for everything we’re all going to think he’s been taking lessons from Dave Langford or something. The nominees for the 2006 Arthur C Clarke Awards (given out on the 26th of April) are:
Never Let Me Go – Kazuo Ishiguro
Learning The World – Ken MacLeod
Pushing Ice – Alastair Reynolds
Air – Geoff Ryman
Accelerando – Charles Stross
Banner Of Souls – Liz Williams
