The Ventedspleen vents his ire publically in Aberdeen

The UK Indy comics creator and practising artistic misanthrope known to all and sundry as the Ventedspleen tells me he has an art exhibition coming up next month. Yes, not only are the Peacock Visual Arts gallery in Aberdeen showing off – gasp of shock – comic artwork in a real gallery, they are showing material from an independent creator. Although I do wonder what some of the local art set will make of the Spleen’s Art School Scum; I love it but then I have a sense of humour as well as a BA; some don’t, but I suspect those are exactly the sorts of people he doesn’t mind perhaps offending (and if they have no sense of humour they probably deserve it anyway).

Peacock Visual Arts is located in Aberdeen’s Castle Street, with the Ventedspleen’s exhibition running from October 7th to November 11th, with full details on their site and also on the Spleen’s site and MySpace page while his comics are also available on our webstore here.

[...] The latest FPI catalogue (and the one with our largest-ever amount of products goodness stuffed inside) arrived in the stores over the weekend. As ever it is crammed with the largest range of SF, comics and cult merchandise around, plus our SF book picks and graphic novels and this time something extra special: 15 pages of comics. We have a great mix from professional artists from Europe like Mawil and Ralph Ruthe and our friends right here in the UK small press comics scene, ranging from the cynical humour of Paul Rainey and the Ventedspleen (who has an exhibition of his comics art in a gallery in Aberdeen – details here) to wacky aliens from Bob Byrne, manga from Charlotte Goodacre and a page from top UK artist David Lloyd’s cracking new crime graphic novel Kickback (which David talked about here recently).
