Audrey Niffenegger’s unusual and intriguing novel The Time Traveller’s Wife is to be adapted for film according to Book Standard. Rachel McAdams is signed up to appear in it with Robert (who helmed Flightplan) Schwentke directing. Despite the time travelling component the book was mostly sold to the non-SF readership and has clocked up vast sales internationally (and I admit it probably would have been less if it had been tucked into the SF section of bookstores, which does make you wonder, hey it is the same book whatever label, so why would some people avoid it if tagged to a certain genre?). The book was shortlisted for the Arthur C Clarke Award in 2005, losing out to China Miéville’s Iron Council.
