My colleague Kenny sent me this one: if you are looking for a bit of fun or just whiling away the hours Word Count is a fascinating look at how we use language. Stick in any word and find how it rates in terms of usedness (bet that one isn’t there) from 86,000 words. It made us think maybe we didn’t name the business properly when we stuck in Forbidden (7496) and Planet (4654) – giving us an average placement at 6075. Right enough this left us behind High Street giants like Gap(2849), Boots (3149), and Virgin(4526) – but strangely miles ahead of the universes most successful retailer Tesco(11015) – hmmm. Look for our stores to be rebranded “The of That” (why didn’t we think of that in the first place) soon.
Oh, and to give us a reason for this nonsense we came across this ourselves whilst reading The Really Heavy Greatcoat Strip over at Down the Tubes. A great comic by John Freeman and Nick Miller which has occasionally appeared in Comics International – you can keep up with it here and, as regular readers will know, John regularly posts news of happenings in the British comics scene on the main DTT site.
