Wallace and Gromit’s Curse of the Were-Rabbit has picked up the best film award at the BAFTA Children’s Awards, while the British animated duo’s creators Nick Park and Aardman were the subject of a South Bank Show with Mevlyn Bragg last night on British TV. Since the show and Bragg are generally considered a very heavyweight cultural show it demonstrates the respect as well as the love for Aardman’s traditional animation in the UK (and elsewhere of course). Predictably the last Harry Potter film, the Goblet of Fire, won the public vote, with around 100, 000 children casting their ballot (at the risk of offending would-be wizards and muggles everywhere I have to say I prefer Wallace and Gromit myself).
