The Beano Annual, for many years utterly secure atop the Yuletide bestsellers list (just as the DC Thomson comic sits king-like in the UK comics sellers) has been pipped at the post for top Christmas seller for the first time in years. And it wasn’t outstripped by another comics-based annual but by this year’s Doctor Who Annual. With the Dandy and Oor Wullie annuals still securely in the top ten I doubt DC Thomson are too worried.
