The Daily Yomiuri reports that three people in Kyoto have been arrested for scanning and uploading cartoons from comics which hadn’t yet gone on sale in shops, including Weekly Shonen Sunday and Weekly Shonen Jump. One of those arrested allegedly claimed “I wanted to brag about being able to get comics before they were released.” Related allegations have been made that some retailers were selling certain comics before the official release date; police are investigating just how the trio got access to comics ahead of time.
