Chris Marshal of the Collected Comics Library podcast (now with new-look blog page) has seen the 30 Days of Night movie and judges it good; I’m jealous – I’m a big fan of Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith’s original comics and annoyed UK audiences have to wait a bit longer before the movie opens here (what idiot decides to release a major horror movie several days after Halloween, eh??!?!). Still, at least it is only a couple of weeks and not the months-long gap we had between the US and UK releases of Death Proof and Stardust, plus we have Ben Templesmith’s solo 30 Days graphic novel, Red Snow, to look forward to – set in the Russian front during WW2 it sounds a bit like a much nastier version of the old 2000AD classic Fiends of the Eastern Front, which also featured blood-drinkers haunting the killing fields between Soviet and Nazi troops.
