Over on ComicBits Terry Hooper laments the idea of a ‘central library’ of British comics falling through, but, undaunted, he has now started thinking along the lines of a virtual rather than physical collection. To this end he is asking readers with decent collections of work from the Diamond and Golden ages of British comics who would be prepared to scan in and share work to get in touch with him. It’s an interesting idea – a kind of Brit comics library of Alexandria in e-space. There are plenty of scans of classic comics material floating around the web, but it would be much more interesting to see an actual major collection put together alongside their fellow publications and with some context to explain them, rather than some pages form time to time from individual issues on various sites and blogs. Any readers interested in helping, swing by ComicBits and give Terry a shout.
