Variety reports that Andy Serkis has been confirmed for the Peter Jackson-Steven Spielberg Tintin series of films, which means he will be once more donning a tight suit covered in little balls for a motion capture performance as he did for Gollum in Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and the titular hairy beast in the director’s rather less successful King Kong flick. Dreamworks wouldn’t comment as to which character Serkis will actually play but did say it wouldn’t be the be-quiffed boy detective himself. Given Serkis astonishingly elastic abilities to portray different creatures via motion capture I wouldn’t rule out him playing Snowy… Principal shooting is due to start in September 2008 although it is thought Jackson’s Weta Digital will begin work on the 3-D motion capture side of things long before then.
