Here’s an interesting flipside to the outcry from the Muslim world over the Danish cartoons – political cartoons from Arab newspapers condemning acts of terrorism. Or perhaps showing that many people in Arabic countries share a sense of outrage and horror at acts of violence would dent our carefully constructed view of that part of the world? Becomes harder to deal in cultural stereotypes when your start loooking more closely at the Other and finding the Other has more similarities to Us than we might think.
