Tom Spurgeon has posted his favourite 50 comics of 2006. As one might expect he reveals himself to be a man of Catholic tastes with material running the gamut from Superheroes to the smallest of self published comics. There have been a lot of ‘Best Of’ lists, so of course there are a number of titles which have been heavily featured already – it’s hard to leave “Fun Home” , “Acme 17” and some others off a list – but there are a good few here I didn’t even know existed. Oh, and he chose Lat’s “Kampung Boy” as his number one book of the year and excellent it is as well.

If you haven’t got Comics Reporter bookmarked you should make sure you have as it is a fantastic news source for comics fans with Tom covering near everything non-superhero and particularly strong on Newspaper cartooning and comics in relation to world events. He also produces a constant stream of reviews mostly leaning towards left of centre and art style comics which many readers will find entertaining. Along with Dirk Deppey’s Journalista, CR is the only must-read for me on a daily basis.
