Awards, Film, TV and radio

The film which has revamped the James Bond franchise, Casino Royale, has swept the boards at this year’s Empire awards. Over 50, 000 readers of the country’s biggest movie mag voted this year, with Casino Royale picking up the Best Film award while Daniel Craig took the Best Use of Wet Swim Shorts and a Six Pack Award. Sorry, I meant the Best Actor award, while his co-star Eva Green won the Best Female Newcomer award to add to her Rising Star award at the BAFTAs (which is a bit odd as she has been making movies for a few years, but hey).

Eva’s male counterpart was the new Superman, Brandon Routh, who took Best Male Newcomer gong for his sterling turn in Superman Returns. Best Horror movie went to Hostel, while Guillermo Del Toro continued to conquer the world as Pan’s Labyrinth took Best Science Fiction film. Christopher Nolan picked up the Best Director award for the intricate The Prestige, based on the novel by Christopher Priest.
