Comics and cartoons

Mike Lynch has posted some excellent work by the late cartoonist J M Bosc, taken from the 1950s book Cartoons the French Way (edited by Rene Goscinny). The cartoons have that seemingly simple structure which actually works (for me anyway) rather better than some much fussier, more detailed works. I’ve never come across this artist’s work before, so it is something of a treat to find it, although that is tempered by the knowledge that Bosc eventually took his own life, which may explain multiple references to mortality in some cartoons. Still, it is well worth a look – got to love the web for giving us a chance to see older cartoons like this again.
