Bryan Talbot on “I’m Ready for My Close-up”

Not comics or specifically SF, but the Curzon Cinema Podcast is run by Alex Fitch, who regular readers will know does a regular radio show “I’m Ready for my Close-up” which he makes available online and has featured a number of top SF and comics talent, so I think it is fair enough to think the movie fans among us may want a look at this too. Alex’s special on cult SF show Blake’s 7 I mentioned last week is also available on his blog for download now.

Sticking with Alex, this week’s regular show (which goes out Thursday evenings) does have some comics talent on offer – in fact I should probably use capitals since this is Comics Talent of the highest order, being the one and only Bryan Talbot. Alex talks to Bryan about his career in comics and about the new Alice in Sunderland (a reminder – Bryan will be signing in the Edinburgh FPI store on Southbridge on Sunday 3rd of June from 5 to 6pm) and also to Mark Wright, the man who adapted Bryan’s seminal work The Adventures of Luther Arkwright for Big Finish’s audio version (which boasts none other than current Doctor Who David Tennant as Luther). And before anyone asks, as far as we know Luther is not related to Arkwright the miserly shopkeep from Open All Hours. As always, for those outside the range of Resonance FM or unable to tune in live via the web Alex normally puts up an MP3 of the show after broadcast on his blog.
