David Sheridan art exhibition

That mighty organ of the free press The Marin Independent Journal reports on an upcoming exhibition of art by the late underground cartoonist David Sheridan. The exhibition of Dave’s work is part of a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love at San Geronimo Valley Community Center on June 2nd, which will also include work from Jerry Garcia, Gilbert Shelton and Dave’s friend and fellow artist Stanley Mouse, as well as a number of bands. Far out, man.

What I liked about him is that he wasn’t stuck in any particular kind of art. A lot of those artists got stuck into what they were doing then and never grew. Dave did Fat Freddy’s Cat and some great cartooning because he was a funny guy with a great sense of humor, but he was also stretching out into classical painting, just as I was,” Stanley Mouse.
