Drawing Dan Dare – a small mystery

Over on the always excellent Bear Alley Steve Holland has a follow-up article to a recent question regarding the page of Dan Dare art Frank Hampson is seen working on in some archive footage from the mid 50s seen on the BBC’s Comics Britannia – the trouble was, as Steve pointed out, what exactly was Frank drawing? Steve was pretty sure it didn’t fit into the storyline which would have been running in the Eagle at that time (Rogue Planet, which is next to be collected in Titan’s rather handsome hardback Classic Dan Dare library), so what was that page for? Several folks have pooled their considerable comics knowledge to work out this mystery, illustrated liberally over on Bear Alley.
