En Tus Brazos – the Tango gets animated

Pablo Hadis has a great interview up on AnimWatch with François-Xavier Goby, talking about the new animation from France which captures the Latin spirit of the Tango with some gorgeously lush visuals dripping in period (1920s) detail, all the more remarkable for being the work of a group of students. Trying to capture human motion in a cartoon is not easy even for a team of professionals; animating human figures dancing something as passionate an energetic as a Tango for your final student work is very daring (the team worked with some real masters of the Tango from Argentina to understand the movements) but they pull it of with great elan and a nice mix of melancholy and passion. Pablo’s interview is also available in Spanish, while En Tus Brazos can be viewed here.
