I’m glad to see a new batch of T-shirts drawing on classic 2000AD art coming out soon – I had to get myself the Brian Bolland “gaze into the fist of Dredd” T-shirt as soon as the first series came out and I’ve had several folks stop me when they see it to ask about it, seems that panel is imprinted on a lot of folks. The next batch of 2000AD T-shirts includes more Dredd – this time on his iconic Lawmaster bike, the bonkers-but-brilliant League of Fatties (please note bellywheel is not included with this T) and Slaine in classic “kiss my axe” pose. But I think my favourite from this new lot has to be this one (below) from the earlist days of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic – the utterly fab Harlem Heroes design “cut the jive, let’s play Aeroball!”. Dave Gibbons’ clear artwork looks as fresh as ever, but the actual design of the T and the language has an irresistable retro, 1970s vibe to it. I may have to add this to my geek wardrobe.
