Green Lantern movie

The torrent of comics-to-movies adaptations continues unabated; an article in the Hollywood Reporter today announces that Warner Brothers have signed a deal with Greg Berlanti, creator of Everwood, to direct and co-write a big-screen, live-action film of Green Lantern. Screenwriter turned comics scribe Marc Guggenheim (CSI, Blade)will also co-write the script, along with Michael Green, with the focus being on the Hal Jordan incarnation of GL, which makes sense since despite the various versions over the decades Hal must be the one most of us are familiar with.

To me, this was one of the last great comic book movies that hasn’t been made. It was a comic book with a real mythology that you would see in a lot of the space operas and the sci-fi books. The best part about it, anybody can be become one of the Green Lanterns because anyone can end up with that ring,” commented director Greg Berlanti, who confessed to being a comics reader when he grew up in the 80s.
